This week we’re recognizing French civil engineer and architect, Gustave Eiffel. He played a significant role in the design of the Statue of Liberty due to experience with wind stresses. He created a structure consisting of a four-legged pylon to support copper sheeting, which made up the body of the statue. Eiffel’s name is most known for the world-famous Eiffel Tower. After retiring from engineering, Eiffel concentrated on meteorology and aerodynamics.
