弗里施的實驗性和綜合性研究、蜜蜂的複雜行為、對魚類敏銳感知的闡明以及將自然選擇引入對動物行為的理解，對後來的行為學家具有重要意義。 1952年因科普成就獲得聯合國教科文組織卡林加獎，1962年巴爾贊獎，1973年與廷伯根、洛倫茨一起獲得諾貝爾生理學或醫學獎。

The waggle dance is a set of very precise movements to tell the other bees exactly where to find nectar. The direction the bee moves in relation to the hive indicates direction; if it moves vertically the direction to the source is directly towards the sun. The duration of the waggle part of the dance signifies the distance.
Nobel Prize laureate Karl von Frisch is known mainly for his research on the "language" of bees. By means of a comprehensive series of experiments he elucidated the ways bees use to communicate information to each other and he was the first person to translate the meaning of the waggle dance. Von Frish shared the 1973 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
卡爾·馮·弗里希騎士（Karl Ritter von Frisch[註 2]，1886年11月20日－1982年6月12日），奧地利動物行為學家，1973年與康拉德·洛倫茲、尼可拉斯·庭伯根共同獲得了1973年諾貝爾生理學或醫學獎。
他在德國與李察·馮·赫德維希（Richard von Hertwig）共同研究動物學。研究蜜蜂的感覺與溝通機制，以及蜜蜂對紫外線和極化光的感應。其中最主要的研究是蜜蜂的感知能力和蜜蜂個體之間的溝通。他是第一位解釋了蜜蜂舞蹈的科學家，他的理論當時受到其他科學家的爭議和懷疑，直到最近才被證明確認。
1973年他因為對比較行為生理學的貢獻與對昆蟲溝通方式之領導性的研究獲得諾貝爾生理學或醫學獎。
