Frequently Asked Questions

Are MIT graduates Insiders?
Yes. MIT alumni can activate their Insider account by using their Infinite Connection credentials. You can recover your Username and/or Password at the MIT Infinite Connection site. If you don’t have an Infinite Connection account, you will need to set up your account first. If you need help with your Infinite Connection account, please e-mail help@alum.mit.edu or call 617-253-8200 Mon–Fri during normal business hours.
Are MIT Technology Review subscribers already Insiders?
Yes. * If you subscribe to the print or digital editions of MIT Technology Review magazine, you’re already an Insider. You simply need to locate your Subscriber Account Number. Print subscribers can find your account number beginning with "MT" on your magazine label (see an example) or on the letter that came with your magazine. If your label begins with ALUM, then you have an MIT Alumni subscription. Digital subscribers can find your account number in the e-mail that is sent with each new issue (see an example). The e-mail will come from technologyreview@mail.realviewtechnologies.com. Look up your account number at the bottom of this form.
*Amazon Magazine Subscriptions and Google Play Newsstand
Currently, we are unable to offer access to Insider to customers who have purchased a subscription to MIT Technology Review magazine through Amazon Magazine Subscriptions or Google Play Newsstand. In order to gain full access to all Insider benefits, you must order through MIT Technology Review directly.
If my magazine subscription started 6 months ago, will my Insider account sync up to my magazine account?
Yes, your Insider account syncs with your current subscription. As your current magazine expiration date approaches, you will receive communications on how to renew your Insider subscription.
What content is Insider-only?
Insider is a new subscription product created to provide readers with a better and easier way to get more tech news, research, and discoveries. We won’t be moving new editorial content you’d usually find on technologyreview.com “behind the wall.” Instead, we’re identifying additional stories–both original and from other sources on the Web–that we know will be interesting and relevant to our readers. News and features that are published exclusively on technologyreview.com will remain open to all Web readers. However, stories that were also published in our magazine will become Insider-only content when the next edition is published.
How do I find Insider-only content?
Alongside free stories on the site, you’ll find Insider-only content identified by a lock icon. You can view all the exclusive content in one place at www.technologyreview.com/insider.
How can I/do I upgrade my Insider Account?
Subscribers
Insiders can upgrade your account at any time. When upgrading, you will pay the full amount of the new level. Any remaining balance on your existing Insider level will be applied to your new Insider level and extend your subscription on a pro-rated basis. For example, if you had $30 remaining on an Insider subscription and wish to upgrade to an Insider Plus subscription, you would pay the full amount for the Insider Plus account. Your expiration date would then be extended by the number of days $30 would provide access at the new level.
MIT Alumni
Alumni may upgrade at any time. An initial upgrade for an Alumnus would provide a year’s worth of the new subscription beginning on the date of the upgrade transaction.
