Our cells are in a constant state of flux. The nucleus exports RNA messages that are translated into proteins (blue) by ribosomes (light orange stations). Proteasomes (green) and lysosomes (light green) degrade and recycle internalized, aberrant, or excess proteins. The endoplasmic reticulum (dark green surrounding the nucleus) and Golgi complex (dark orange) package and sort cargoes for transport to other organelles or for export from the cell. Mitochondria (yellow) provide power to the rest of the cell.
