翻開奧運史冊，彷彿也是一部媒體的演進史：早些年前民眾透過報紙廣播來掌握奧運消息，1964年的東京奧運會開始採用衛星直播報導；1996年亞特蘭大奧運會建置了完整的網站，提供奧運相關資訊；2012倫敦奧運，手機收看奧運直播，官方首度提供3D轉播訊號。
